Throughout ICA-AtoM, [[Glossary#Controlled vocabulary|controlled vocabularies]] are used to generate drop-down value lists to restrict data entry in certain fields to certain values (e.g. the <span class="field">Type of entity</span> field can only take one of "Corporate body", "Person", "Family"). ICA-AtoM stores these values as <span class="entity">Term</span> records in the database. Translating a value list is therefore really just translating a series of database records from the <span class="entity">Term</span> table and follows the same logic as described above ([[#Translating records |Translating records]]).

Overview

Taxonomies are controlled vocabularies that generate drop-down value lists in ICA-AtoM to restrict data entry in certain fields to certain values. ICA-AtoM stores these values as term records in the database, associating each term with a particular taxonomy. For more on taxonomies, see in this manual:


Translating a taxonomy involves two steps: (i) translate the name of the taxonomy; and (ii) translate the terms that comprise its values.

1. Log in.


2. In the Language menu click the language into which you want to translate.
