The Context menu box provides a series of links to records relating to the current description. It is visible on the View and Edit screens. The links available on the Context menu box vary by record type. Each is described separately below.
Archival description
1. Archival institution: links to the archival institution holding the material described.
- Returned from value entered in the Repository field (Context area).
2. Creator: links to the authority record of the corporate body(ies), person(s) or family(ies) registered as the creator(s) of the material.
- Returned from value entered in the Creation context fields (Context area).
3. Related descriptions: shows the hierarchy of arrangement in which the current record (highlighted) is situated and provides links to the related descriptions in the hierarchy. Levels of description that contain lower levels ("children") can be expanded / collapsed to show / hide the links to the child descriptions.
- Note that the label on this section in the Context menu box corresponds to the highest level of description in the hierarchy to which the current description belongs.
4. Storage location: shows container and location.
- Returned from values entered in Storage location area.
Authority records
5. Creator: links to the archival descriptions for which the entity is registered as teh creator.
- Returned from value entered in the archival descriptions' Creation context fields (Context area).
- Typically creators are registered only at the highest level of description: fonds, collection, series (for institutions using the series system).

6. Authority record: links to institution's full authority record.
7. Holdings: links to archival descriptions of material held by institution.
- Returned from value entered in the archival descriptions' Repository field (Context area).
- Typically a repository is registered only at the highest level of description: fonds, collection, series (for institutions using the series system).
