Context menu box: archival description
Context menu box: authority record
Context menu box: archival institution

The context menu box provides a series of links to records relating to the current description. It is visible on the view and edit screens. The links available on the context menu box vary by record type. Each is described separately below.

Archival description

1. Archival institution: links to the archival institution holding the material described.

2. Creator: links to the authority record of the corporate body(ies), person(s) or family(ies) registered as the creator(s) of the material.

3. Related descriptions: shows the hierarchy of arrangement in which the current record (highlighted) is situated and provides links to the related descriptions in the hierarchy. Descriptions that contain lower levels (child records) can be expanded or collapsed to show or hide the links to the child descriptions.

4. Storage location: shows the physical location of the records.

Authority records

5. Creator: links to the archival descriptions for which the entity is registered as the creator.

Archival institutions

6. Authority record: links to institution's full authority record.

7. Holdings: links to archival descriptions of material held by the institution.

  • Typically a repository is registered only at the highest level of description: typically fonds, collection or series, depending on institutional practices.
