User roles

Your user account in ICA-AtoM is tied to one of five user roles, each representing a different level of access to the system.
Researcher
- Does not require a user name or password.
- Has view-only access to the application.
- Can search and browse descriptions (archival descriptions, authority records, archival institutions).
- Is the default role whenever a user accesses the application without logging in.
Contributor
- Is a registered user with a unique user name or password.
- Can search, browse, create and edit descriptions.
Editor
- Is a registered user with a unique user name or password.
- Can search, browse, create and edit descriptions.
- Can delete records.
- Can edit controlled vocabulary terms.
Translator
- Is a registered user with a unique user name or password.
- Can search and browse descriptions.
- May or may not be able to create, edit and delete records.
- Can translate user interface elements and database content.
Administrator
- Is a registered user with a unique user name or password.
- Has full access to the system to create, read, update or delete any record in the system.
- Can customize application to institution-specific requirements.
- Manages user accounts and profiles.
