In Release 1.3 job scheduling was introduced to make AtoM capable of running applications in the background. At present, the only process that makes use of this feature is SWORD. In future releases we plan to extend the capabilities of job scheduling to allow Administrators to upload digital objects (e.g., large video files) and close their browser while continuing to run the upload process.
