About the MemoryBC Tutorial

MemoryBC provides access to descriptions of archival materials held in repositories throughout the province of British Columbia, Canada. The site is run using ICA-AtoM and managed by the Archives Association of British Columbia (AABC). The AABC allows its institutional members to add and edit their archival descriptions in the MemoryBC portal. This tutorial is used in workshops held throughout the province to prepare users for data-entry.

Anyone is free to download the workshop material and complete the tutorial on their own or adapt it for use in other projects.

How to burn a CD

Getting Started

Once the .iso file has been burned onto a CD, you should:

  1. insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive.
  2. Turn off your computer.
  3. Turn your computer back on, holding down the F12 key (the 'c' key if using a Mac).
  4. This should then give you an option to boot your computer from the CD.

The CD contains an Ubuntu LiveCD which has been customized to provide all the software necessary to demo the ICA-AtoM web application. Give Ubuntu a few minutes to load up and then a Firefox browser loaded with ICA-AtoM will appear.
