The Context menu box provides a series of links to records relating to the current description. It is visible on the View and Edit screens. The links available on the Context menu box vary by record type. Each is described separately below.


Archival description

1. Archival institution displays a link to the repository holding the material described; taken from value entered in the Repository field (Context area).


2. Creator displays links to the authority record of the corporate body(ies), person(s) or family(ies) registered as the creator(s) of the material in the Creation context fields (Context area).


3. Related descriptions shows the hierarchy of arrangement in which the current record (highlighted) is situated and provides links to the related descriptions in the hierarchy. Levels of description that contain lower levels ("children") can be expanded / collapsed to show / hide the links to the child descriptions.


4. Storage location shows container and location.


Authority records

The Context menu box for authority records includes the following links:

5. Creator displays links to archival descriptions for which the authority record has been registered as the creator.

  • Typically creators are registered only at the highest level of description: fonds, collection, series (for institutions using the series system).


Archival institutions

6. Authority record displays the link to institution's full authority record.


7. Holdings displays links to archival descriptions registered to the current institution as in the Repository field.
